Some events carry a little extra meaning, and this past weekend’s wedding at the George Peabody Library was absolutely one of them.
We were honored to provide Baltimore wedding catering for the wedding of Cory Piette and his new wife Kirstyn Piette, hosted in one of the city’s most iconic wedding venues. The George Peabody Library holds deep significance not only for their family, but also for our team at The Classic Catering People.
Cory’s mom, Lynn Piette, spent 28 years with The Classic Catering People and worked more weddings and events at the Peabody than most people can count. While Lynn did retire, she is now back with us in a more limited role, continuing to share her experience and steady support in a way that feels very much like Lynn.
This wedding marked the second time one of Lynn’s children was married at the George Peabody Library. Her daughter celebrated her wedding here as well, making this space not just a professional touchstone for Lynn, but a deeply personal one too.
What made the night especially meaningful was that Lynn got to experience the Peabody from a completely different perspective. After decades of working behind the scenes on Baltimore weddings, she was able to be fully present as a guest at her son’s celebration, something that is rare for someone who has spent so much of her career taking care of everyone else’s events.
The evening brought together many familiar faces and long-standing relationships within Baltimore’s wedding community. Lynn was grateful to have Bobby Pressman there, along with Aubrey Canale, a longtime vendor partner and friend from Simply Created Events.
One of the most memorable moments came during dinner. While guests enjoyed their selected entrées, Cory and Kirstyn, together with Bobby, surprised Lynn’s husband, Craig, with his favorite plate of hot dogs, complete with all the condiments. It was thoughtful, personal, and incredibly well received, one of those small moments that made the wedding feel uniquely theirs.
The night unfolded beautifully with dinner, toasts, and dancing, all wrapping up just in time before the snow began to fall over Baltimore.
For all of us at The Classic Catering People, this truly felt like a full-circle moment. Lynn has played a role in so many memorable weddings at the George Peabody Library, always leading with care, attention to detail, and heart. Being part of her family’s celebration, in a place that means so much to her, was incredibly special.
